At forest school this week the children started to create their throwing stick. After some instruction on knife safety, they set to work. This isn’t easy for anyone, we were using Hazel and that is not the softest of wood. However they persevered and with a bit of help, everyone got a point on both ends of their stick. We then used flint and stone tools to strip the bark. More on this next week.
After dinner we tasted the infusion of leaves that Matthew had prepared. Some liked it, some didn’t.
Everyone tested their throwing sticks out and then moved on to firing bow and arrows. We have some good shots in Class 2!
A game of Eagle Eye finished our day off nicely. It was lovely to spend time without coats on in the fresh air.
