A busy day at forest school saw the children in Y5 making their own shelters. They had a time limit of just over an hour and they were told it had to be big enough for all involved to lay in. This was quite an ask but the children rose to the challenge. We may finish these over the next few weeks but there is a busy programme of work coming up. Fire making has moved on for this experienced bunch and today we learnt about finding dry tinder to get our fires going, not the usual sticks . We went hunting and we tried out pine needles, pine cones, dry grass, dead wood and various types of bark. Using char cloth and their tinder, all of the group successfully made fire. Well done Y5. You worked hard today
