Forest school

During this half term Y3 have spent time in the woods. It has been really cold some weeks but the children have got to work without complaint. Over the 4 weeks the children have built a really sturdy shelter, learnt how to light and build fires, have learnt knife skills that they have safely put into practice making feather sticks and pendants. We also dug clay and made clay beads which were left to dry for one week before being fired the following week. This was a brand new, untried project that was really successful so I’m pleased we were the first. We learnt how to skin and gut a rabbit showing ultimate respect to the animal, we then cooked it and all of the children had a try.

Matthew and Maria commented how sensible and mature this group have been and Mrs Smith and I agree.
