This week we went back to our forest bathing(Shinrin Yoku) with class 2. In the shade of the trees on the field the children were encouraged to lay down and take the time to relax, notice how the light of the sun was coming through the leaves, to notice the actual leaves and the difference between the underside and the top of the leaf and to listen to the sounds of the trees. We did some mindfulness breathing and then, after a quick bit of advisory chat about where to avoid, the children were able to wander barefoot if they wanted to. Most did and enjoyed the different textures of the grass, the warmth of the soil in mole hills and the feeling of tree brash underfoot.
Lots of positive comments from the children today which was lovely.
